   According to the "National Petroleum and Natural Gas Resources Exploration and Exploitation Bulletin (2019)" issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources, as of the end of 2019, there were 25 proven coalbed methane fields nationwide, with a cumulative production of 24.478 billion cubic meters of coalbed methane.

   Among them, in 2019, the country's newly-added proven geological reserves of coalbed methane was 6.408 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 56.4%. The newly-added proven reserves came from the Wenjiaba coalbed methane block in Guizhou Shui Mine.

   In 2019, the output of CBM developed on the ground across the country was 5.463 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

   It is understood that at the end of 2019, the Ministry of Natural Resources issued the "Opinions on Several Matters Concerning Promoting the Reform of Mineral Resources Management (for Trial Implementation)" and proposed that the market for oil and gas exploration and mining should be opened, and social funds should be introduced through multiple channels to carry out oil and gas exploration and development; implementation of stricter block withdrawals and supervision Enterprises increase their exploration and development efforts; implement an integrated oil and gas exploration and production system to ensure that enterprises can directly enter oil and gas exploration after exploration and discovery from the institutional level; adjust the exploration rights once for two years to once for five years to reduce the cost of enterprises; Decentralize the registration authority for the transfer of coal-bed methane mining rights to the provincial natural resources authority to mobilize local enthusiasm.

   The above opinions will be formally implemented on May 1, 2020, and will be valid for three years. By then, national oil and gas resource management will be more standardized and orderly.

   According to data from the Ministry of Natural Resources, as of the end of December 2019, there were 924 petroleum and natural gas (including coalbed methane and shale gas) prospecting rights covering an area of 2,982,100 square kilometers, and 800 mining rights covering an area of 168,800 square kilometers. , 42 foreign cooperative prospecting rights and 35 mining rights. In 2019, a total of 118,100 square kilometers withdrew from the block due to the poor potential of the prospecting right block or overlap with the protected area.

   Coal-bed methane refers to the natural gas resources that occur in coal seams, tight sandstone, shale and other formations. China's coal-bed methane resources are huge, about 36.8 trillion cubic meters, ranking third in the world. According to the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for the Development and Utilization of Coalbed Methane (Coal Mine Methane)", during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the country will add 420 billion cubic meters of proven geological reserves of coalbed methane and build 2-3 coalbed methane industrialization bases. In 2020, the drainage volume of coalbed methane (coal mine gas) will reach 24 billion cubic meters, of which 10 billion cubic meters of surface coalbed methane will be produced, with a utilization rate of over 90%.
